Your brand isn’t bland or boring, and your brand photos shouldn’t be either! Props help you tell a more in-depth brand story through your photos. Planning a brand session this year? Here are 3 types of props that will help your photo collection be unique and feel authentic to your brand story!
Work Items: How do you make your product/service happen?
Make sure you bring some of the work tools & equipment you use to make your magic happen on a regular basis. Are you an online business coach? Bring your laptop, your phone, your ring light and any other tools you use to create your work! Are you a food blogger? Bring all of your favorite cooking utensils (baking pans, utensils, measuring cups, trays, silverware, plates, etc.).
As a branding photographer, I’ll often ask my clients to physically go through the process of their work so that I can capture them in their element and behind the scenes of creating their final product! Your clients will have an even greater appreciation for your value if they can see the work that goes in behind the scenes to make it come to life!!
Items that feature your brand colors or logo:
Brand photos are just one piece of your overall visual brand. Adding props that feature your logo and brand colors will help you create consistency. Check around your house or office, you might be surprised what you find. Here are just a few examples of what props might be in your brand colors or showcase your brand logo to use during your session:
– Coffee mug
– Laptop case
– Water tumbler
– Books + journals
– Any apparel / work outfits
– Decorative prints or artwork
People (becaues no one does business alone):
This isn’t necessarily a prop, but it’s a great way to add more depth to the story you’re telling with your brand photos. This can be your kids, spouse, friends, or even customers to show some behind the scenes with clients. Do you have a couple of team members? We’ll chat through making sure we have enough time to coordinate having a few of your favorite people throughout your brand session!
Having people in your shoot shows a clear behind the scenes picture of your work & why you do what you do. Is there anything that your friends or family help out with in the business? Maybe your sister helps with the bookkeeping or your husband is your #1 business supporter. Incorporate them into your branding session!
