This past week I got to chat with Manali on her Behind the Business YouTube Series! She interviews incredible business owners in our industry to get to know the behind the scenes of their stories of success. Each conversation is real, raw and honest and each guest is encouraged to show up as they are (yoga pants, messy buns and office spaces are welcome!) in an attempt to overcome the perception of perfection in our industry!
Here’s a look at what we covered during our conversation:
04:50 “I think some people don’t realize the importance of really having a strategy with their brand photography. Having headshots is wonderful, but having shots that can show people what you’re doing in your business is really important for your website and social media.”
08:03 “Studying the work of people that I admire was helpful with weddings, branding, and is helpful now with products, in a way that along with education, whether it’s investing time or money into it, is probably what I’ve found to be the most helpful and to get good quickly.”
13:20 “If you are going to try something outside of social media, don’t be afraid. I know that for the longest time I just thought that if I wasn’t posting on Instagram that my business would fail – and it hasn’t!”
15:39 “I would probably tell myself to not be afraid to do things. I think everything in my business that I was afraid to do, whether it was raising my wedding prices or even launching brand photography…everything I was afraid to do ended up working out really well, and I think a lot of times my regret is not doing it sooner.”
You can listen/watch the full episode on her YouTube channel. Be sure to tune in to the full episode to hear more about brand photography, pivoting within your business, and growing a business without social media. If you want to follow along with her show, new episodes air every Monday on her channel!
If you’re growing your photography business, Manali is someone you want to be following! You can find her on her website or on Instagram. She’s offering a free masterclass on how to help photographers quickly grow their business within their first year that you can tune into HERE!
Cheers to showing up imperfectly & making an impact!

She was so easy and calming to work with, as it was my first branding session. She led me throughout the way and the images are perfect! “
"I am certain that because Jontell got to know me and my brand up front, it allowed her to capture exactly what I wanted.
