I have had the opportunity to shoot a few proposals and they are always so fun! I made my way out to Early Mountain Vineyards, a gorgeous winery right outside of Charlottesville, to capture this special moment for Luray & Eathan! Luray and her family have been my neighbors for over a decade. When Luray’s mom asked me to capture this moment for them, I was truly so honored!
Here was the plan: Eathan lives in Arizona, so he was flying in to surprise Luray for her birthday weekend. The excitement of him flying in would be an amazing birthday surprise, so she wouldn’t even consider the real surprise that was going to take place. Weeks in advance, Luray’s family planted the idea of a vineyard trip for her birthday. It would seem like another casual weekend get together and Luray would have no clue what was really happening.
Fast forward to the special day – I had my sweet friend, Brooke, join me for my Early Mountain Vineyard visit. When I “randomly” ran into Luray and her family in the tasting room, I told Luray that I was at the vineyard to shoot a wedding and just killing some time until I had to start working (an easy, perfect lie since I photograph a ton of winery weddings). Brooke and I pretended to hang out while simultaneously watching Luray and Eathan’s every move! After some wine tasting and hanging out with friends by the fire pit, Eathan got down on one knee and asked Luray to be his wife – it was the SWEETEST moment.
Congratulations, Eathan & Luray! It was an honor to capture this special moment for you. Wishing you two the very best as you plan your dream wedding and start your new journey together!
Eathan wanted a picture of the ring behind his back. We staged a few different shots and my heart was RACING the whole time!
Look at that BLING! Eathan did an amazing job of picking the perfect ring for Luray!
