The heart behind this shoot was a little different than in the past. I’ve blogged before about what goes into planning a styled shoot. However, this shoot all began with a spontaneous Facebook post from Nicole expressing how she wanted to do a shoot that highlighted women of color. I commented and said that I would love to collaborate because this was a wonderful idea and the editorial industry needed more representation of the many types of weddings that take place. Before we knew it, things were in place to shoot at North Point Plantation – a beautiful lakeside venue just outside of Richmond, Virginia.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Nicole quite a few times over the past few years (and we’ll actually be working together again on another fabulous styled shoot, coming soon!) and she is always incredible! Not only are her finished looks always flawless, but she just has an amazing personality! Luckily, thanks to Nicole, I also got to meet some other really cool creatives at this shoot. Jessica is the lead planner of the new Beautifully Divine Events based out of Hampton Roads, Virginia. Her focus and organization were a huge help throughout the day and I can’t wait to work with her again. Also, I know you can’t miss those gorgeous florals and that unique cake when you’re scrolling through these photos. Annette and Kadi had so many creative ideas that they brought along on the day of the shoot – not to mention Kadi came to my rescue when I cut my hand on some broken glass in the middle of shooting (it isn’t a great shoot without a few minor setbacks, right?).
I’m so thankful that this shoot was featured on Tidewater & Tulle, a coastal Virginia based blog that specializing in diversity in weddings and travel. It’s always a wonderful feeling when your initial creative concept comes together beautifully AND gets featured on a blog that aligns with your initial vision. She was so easy and calming to work with, as it was my first branding session. She led me throughout the way and the images are perfect! “
"I am certain that because Jontell got to know me and my brand up front, it allowed her to capture exactly what I wanted.
