This question is at the top of my FAQ list! Most people have heard some buzz about brand photography, but they aren’t quite sure what it is or why they should care.
Well, luckily, the answer isn’t too complicated. To put it simply, brand photography consists of photographs focused on brands. Similar to the way portrait photography means photos focused on people. Brand photography highlights key elements of a brand whether that’s people or products. Since no two brands are the same, you’ll notice that every brand shoot you see will (and should!) look different. Whether it’s the people, product, vision, brand visuals, brand story, or countless other things – each brand is unique and a branding session is meant to highlight that in a way that helps you appeal to your ideal client.
We can’t talk about what brand photography is without recognizing why it’s so important. I was a Media Studies major in college, so I’m a little too passionate about educating people on our current media landscape. However, you don’t have to study media to understand that our media landscape has a large emphasis on digital platforms and online media. 100% of my inquires reach out via my website or a social media platform. That means that they’re encountering my brand long before they ever have a one-on-one conversation with me. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that people are viewing an authentic, cohesive, and accurate representation of the brand that I want to present.
That’s where brand photography comes in. You can use imagery to highlight the message that you want to convey to people about your brand – the value you offer, why you’re different, and why people should invest your product or services.
Lucky for you, brand photography doesn’t have to be complicated. A one or two-time investment in brand photos will help you put your business in front of the right people and lead to a better reputation (online and offline!).
