Friday Inspiration | Book Review

I made a New Year’s Resolution to read and blog more often. I figured the best way to hold myself accountable for both would be to blog about some of my favorite reads! First up, Lauren Graham’s Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between).

I’ll be honest, I LOVE Lauren Graham, but I probably never would have gone out to by this book. I get bored reading non-fiction (hence the New Year’s Resolution of reading more), so I didn’t want to spend money on it and end up not reading it…like many of the other books on my shelf. However, I got a free trial of Audible through Amazon Prime and it comes with one credit for a book; I highly recommend trying audible if you want to see if the audiobook trend is for you.

Lauren Graham is one of those Hollywood stars who seems so down to earth when you watch her in interviews; she’s calm, collected, and says whatever is on her mind…and her book does the same. The audiobook is actually narrated by her which is wonderful because it keeps things funny and light-hearted (there’s singing and funny phone calls involved!). The only thing I didn’t like about picking the audio version was that she referenced a lot of images that are included in the hard copy of the book. For the audio book, she briefly describes them in one sentence, but it would have been fun to see the images that went with the stories.

Lauren tells the readers all about her life before Gilmore Girls and even spends time outlining what it was like to make the show for some specific seasons and the reboot. She also gives her hilarious perspective on Hollywood, dating, dieting, and just general life lessons. I definitely think Lauren’s book would be a wonderful read for women of all ages, especially for anyone who is a Gilmore Girls fan. She breaks down the Hollywood walls to get real with readers and it’s truly refreshing!

Even though I mentioned the picture issue before, I would definitely suggest this book on audio because it is a great accompaniment while you’re commuting to work or finally doing the cleaning that you’ve been putting off all week.  10/10 recommendation!
