I’m currently sitting in Starbucks accompanied by a Venti Mango Black Tea Lemonade (patiently waiting for Gingerbread Lattes to come back). It’s been a long week…to say the least. With the start of a new semester, all of my days just feel as if they’re constantly on overdrive. For the first time this week, I’ve been able to sit down and focus on business; I was greeted by a mile long to-do list and a calendar filled with wedding weekends for the next two months. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this. All I need is a good drink and a better playlist, and I could sit in Starbucks all day long (currently going on hour four, in case you were wondering!). Regardless, I can’t always pretend that everything about running a business is easy and glamorous. There are times when I question my timing and the future of my business.
Yes, today was one of those days. Luckily, I got bored of my playlist and decided to head over to TedTalks for some motivation and inspiration. Of course, the very first talk I decided to watch ended up being so inspiring that I stopped what I was doing to completely focus on it annnd now I’m writing this blog post (I normally don’t even blog on Fridays). It’s Steve Job’s commencement speech at Stanford University. He talks about how following his dreams led down some scary paths, but the outcome was worth it all. I mean, we all know that, but hearing everything from his perspective was incredibly interesting. One of the parts that resonated most was when he talked about being fired from Apple and how that led him to start PIXAR! Talk about failure leading to success! This man was a genius and an extraordinary example of an entrepreneur.
If you’re struggling with creativity and motivation or if you’re just bored on this lovely Friday afternoon, I encourage you to take some time to listen to this talk (click the picture below)! It’s worth every minute!
Do you all have some TedTalks or podcasts that you LOVE? I need more playlists for editing days, so comment them below!
